This project is to be completed under the premise that it is for a commercial client who is asking for a series of work for the theme culture. Culture is a broad term which gives me a lot of freedom in terms of the specific topic that I will base my work around. I am also able to decide what format I want to complete this project in. Depending on what concept I come up with, I will use photography or videography to display it. Both formats will require me to build upon skills which I have developed over the course of this year, whilst also establishing new ones through the use of experimentation to achieve my intended effects.
Culture can refer to our backgrounds, who we are as a person and what has influenced us to come who we are. Our way of life significantly impacts us and our behaviour as there are behavioural influences all around us consistently, from the moment we are born to this very moment. The bystander effect is a great example of this, as whilst short term, it still shows that when the actions of those around us have a larger impact on us than one may think. I could delve into culture in terms of our identities for my project as it would fit the brief I have been given. I could explore how the people around us can impact our identities and who we are as a person. The culture of relationships interests me personally as it can refer to the many different types of relationships we may have. Any interactions with another person is classed as a relationship, but I feel like I could represent relationships in terms of friendships more effectively than, for example, a working relationship.
The idea of culture can be specific to individuals or a more broad reference to a group of people. The latter meaning is typically used to refer to interests someone might have, for example music culture or film culture. This is a term which summarises everything about that specific topic, the history of it, the people involved with it and the exchanges centerd around it. Just by engaging in that interest involves you in the culture of it. Everything contributes to the culture of it, whether it be positive comments, direct engagements or contributing to it. For this project, I could explore this type of culture as it would fit the clients overall brief.

The Creative Process
Attached are what I believe to be the most essential parts of my process of creating this project. From the idea generating stages, to the in depth research into music, film and photographer inspirations, to the overall planning and execution of my concept, all are essential.
